Client’s Brief:
Our recent project in Milton Keynes was initially intended to be a shower enclosure replacement. However, upon inspecting the completed ensuite in the same property, the client decided to embark on a full bathroom renovation journey. The new design included a wall-hung basin, a low-profile shower tray and enclosure, and the installation of a concealed cistern to optimise space where the toilet is located. Additionally, the client also had a special request for underfloor heating with an LCD control panel mounted on the wall.
Challenges Faced:
- 1st Floor Bathroom Waterproofing: Being a 1st-floor bathroom, we needed to ensure the longevity of the tiled surfaces. To prevent grout and tile cracking, we applied a flexible tile membrane before tiling. This membrane also had to be compatible with the underfloor heating system to ensure a seamless finish.
- Cubby Hole in Shower Area: The client’s design called for a unique cubby hole in the shower area. We had to cut into the wall precisely to create this feature, adding both style and functionality to the space.
- Pipework Transformation: The existing waste and water supply pipework for the basin was initially concealed in boxing along the bottom of the wall. To achieve a cleaner and more modern look, we removed the boxing and buried the pipework into the wall. This ensured that the wall-hung basin had no visible pipework, resulting in a sleek appearance.
- Concealed Cistern Sourcing: The concealed cistern required for this project had an unusual size. We worked closely with our suppliers to source the right fit, ensuring that every detail of the renovation met the client’s expectations.
